This is my first trip to WDW since being diagnosed with Alpha Gal. I get anaphylaxis from eating mammal meat or byproducts. I see the plant based menu, but would like to eat chicken or turkey. What is the best way I can ensure safe eating for myself?

Hello Courtney and welcome back to planDisney!

How wonderful it is to hEAR you're returning to Walt Disney World Resort this coming August.  There's nothing quite like visiting the most magical place on earth during the summer months when everything seems to glitter and gleam with even more magic in the beautiful Florida sunshine.

I'm so happy to know you've already discovered all the many Plant-Based Cuisine Options at Walt Disney World Resort.  All Guests need to do is to look for the little green Leaf Icon to discover 100s of plant-based offerings available on menus at a plethora of Disney restaurants!

I'm sure it'll be reassuring for you to understand that Walt Disney World Resort really does take care of the needs of its many Guests who like you, have Special Dietary Requests for conditions, allergies, or intolerances such as Alpha Gal.

Making Special Dietary Requests at any Disney restaurant or dining location is a fairly straightforward process -

    - When making Advanced Dining Reservations via My Disney Experience, or over the phone by calling the number for Dining Reservations contained within this Walt Disney World Resort Phone Directory, you'll want to be sure to indicate and have noted onto your reservation all pertinent food allergies and intolerances.

    - Upon arrival at the restaurant, Guests should inform the server of any pertinent restrictions or food allergies.  Plus, it's always possible to gain the opportunity to consult with a chef or special dietary-trained Cast Member if necessary.  It might be helpful to know that my husband is a Type 2 Diabetic and in our past experience, Cast Members have always taken the time to understand, and where possible accommodate his particular dietary needs.

Additionally, Courtney, I would highly recommend emailing knowledgeable Cast Members at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com to further discuss your particular Alpha Gal dietary needs and requirements before your arrival this August at Walt Disney World Resort.

Courtney, I hope I've been able to offer some reassurance and provide a little insight for you today.  If you should have any further questions about visiting Walt Disney World Resort this coming August, then please do drop back to planDisney to ask me another question.

Have a great Disney day ~ Jane
