Our first trip to WDW for 10/27/12 to 11/2/12. How crowded is the park during that time? Are there any costume contests? They want to bring different costumes, are there a lot of events that week so they can wear different costumes?

    Hi Teresa!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.

Unfortunately, there are no costume contests at Walt Disney World.  You will see young girls in Disney Princess dresses all the time at Walt Disney World, but you don't really see a lot of costumes beyond that.  The only exception is during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.  The Halloween Party is a special ticketed event in the Magic Kingdom on select nights in September, October, and usually the first couple of days in November.  Basically it is a chance for guests to go trick or treating in the Magic Kingdom.  Usually you will see about half the guests, mostly children, walking around in some kind of costume during the party.

With regards to crowds, Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Parties near Halloween will be very crowded.  However, during the day, the parks won't be that crowded except for Epcot on the weekends.  Epcot will usually be full of locals on the weekends in the fall enjoy Epcot's International Food and Wine Festival.

I hope this helps!  Write back if you have any more questions!
