First trip and I really want to stay at AKL. It sounds amazing! Between my Ariel-loving daughter and our baby, we will be going back and forth between the other parks and hotel a lot. Is that realistic if we don't rent a car? Should we try WL instead? Thx!

Hi Emily - While the Animal Kingdom Lodge is a bit less convenient than some of the other deluxe resorts, I think it's worth it if you have animal-loving kids.  We went for the first time back in 2008 with my (then) 1 year old and 3 year old, and they both absolutely loved it.  We had a savanna-view room, and even my littlest one sat with his nose pressed against the glass of the sliding door.  Then, at night, when the kids were asleep, my husband and I would sit on the deck and watch the animals.

It really comes down to how much time you think you'll spend in the resort.  But I think you'll really enjoy the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

    Have a great vacation!
