Hi, we have our first trip to Magic Kingdom on December 22 and I am wondering if it will be very crowded? We are considering changing our tickets to Epcot. Any thoughts on avoiding a large crowd?

    Hiya Susan!

Thank you so much for stopping by planDisney with your park question. The holiday season is truly one of the most magical times to visit Disney World. From the festive décor to the special holiday treats to the towering Christmas trees around every corner—it really does feel like stepping straight into your very own Disney winter wonderland.

Now, Susan, while this time of year is filled with extra pixie dust, it also brings extra Guests. Many families like to spend their holidays at Disney, so the parks are a bit busier. But don’t worry, there are still plenty of ways to make your visit merry, bright, and wonderfully manageable.

I highly recommend using the My Disney Experience app to monitor wait time throughout your time in the park. This will give you an idea of the lower attractions and show wait times.

If there are certain attractions on your must-do list, I highly recommend looking into Lightning Lane options. You can purchase Lightning Lanes for individual attractions, bundles of multiple attractions, or both. If you are staying at a Disney Resort, you can purchase Lightning Lanes up to 7 days before your visit; if you are staying off-property, you can purchase them up to 3 days before arrival.

If you’re hoping to experience many attractions with minimal wait times, you may want to consider the Lightning Lane Premier Pass. This allows you to enjoy the included attractions once with reduced wait times.

And if you’re looking for an extra dose of magic (and convenience!), you can look into booking a VIP Tour. These can be reserved 60 days in advance and offer an incredible personalized experience—your own private guide, priority access, and the flexibility to hop to multiple parks and attractions in one unforgettable day.

Even with larger crowds, Disney truly shines during the holidays. There are so many shows, decorations, treats, and magical moments to enjoy that the parks remain absolutely delightful.
Susan, I hope this helps as you prepare for your holiday adventure. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to visit us again.

    See ya real soon,

    Christina
