HI! This is our first trip to DisneyWorld We are staying at the All Star Sports. What is the best way to get from the hotel to Magic Kingdom for an 8:05 am ADR at Crystal Palace on Friday, Sept. 20th? Or would it be better to do an early dinner there?

    Hi April,

Thanks for your question. I especially love helping guests who are planning their first Walt Disney World vacations.

The hotels typically run special buses to accommodate guests who have dining reservations before the parks open. To get to Magic Kingdom in time for an 8:05 breakfast reservation, you probably would need to catch a bus at the resort by about 7 a.m. I would check in with the Guest Relations desk the night before so that they know you need an early bus and can give you last-minute instructions.

It is a special treat to be able to enter Magic Kingdom before the official opening time and have a chance to take pictures on a nearly deserted Main Street on your way to the restaurant. (The park opens at 9 a.m. that day).

There are advantages, too, of having an early dinner instead. For one thing, you could catch the bus a little later and still be at the gates of Magic Kingdom in time for the special rope drop ceremony, which is lots of fun.

When my family plans a full day in Magic Kingdom, we often head right to our favorite rides at opening time when the lines are short, have a mid-morning snack, then plan an early dinner at Crystal Palace at 4 or 4:30. That gives us achance to eat, cool off and refuel for the rest of the evening.

Magic Kingdom closes at 7 p.m. that night for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party, so you may want to take that into account as you make your decision. If you aren't staying for the party (which requires a separate ticket), you may not want to take time for dinner so near closing time. If you are staying for the party, an early dinner may be exactly what you need so that you can get every minute of enjoyment from the party activities.

I hope that gives you enough information to finalize your plans. Please feel free to write back if there's anything else I can do to prepare you for a magical first visit. Enjoy!
