First trip to Disney with 9 yr son and 7 yr daughter 1/19-1/24. What is best chracter dining for that age and what order of parks should I go. I don't want to miss special parades or other special events at different parks. thanks!! Cant wait!!

    Hi Shannon!

Congratulations on your upcoming FIRST trip to Walt Disney World. Your entire family is in for a memorable journey!

I would recommend Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort for your character meal. My son began dining there at age 2 and still requests to eat there over 10 years later! It's a fun experience for all ages, including the young-at-heart. What makes it extra special is that Mickey invites diners to "party" with him by waving napkins in the air and other high-energy antics. Plus, guests of all ages find the monorail running overhead to be exceptionally cool! It's a buffet meal so the kids will enjoy choosing their favorite food too.

Now let's look at your itinerary:
January 19 - if arrival day, plan evening at Downtown Disney
January 20 - Animal Kingdom, if you have park hoppers go to the Magic Kingdom in the evening to see parade and fireworks
January 21 - Magic Kingdom, see evening entertainment
January 22 - Disney's Hollywood Studios, see Fantasmic
January 23 - Epcot, see IllumiNations
January 24 - if departure day, plan a special breakfast at a resort.

This itinerary is based on best parks for crowd levels as well as entertainment offerings.
