Hi Annette!
Congratulations on your upcoming first visit this summer! Your family is going to have such a magical time vacationing at the Walt Disney World Resort.
There are so many wonderful things to see and do and experience and eat...oh my, it would take me a long time to answer all of my favorites, but I can give you a few tips and pointers for your first visit. First, I definitely recommend a double stroller. Although I am sure your 6-year-old may be long past the "stroller days" at home, Walt Disney World is huge and on average you can walk as many as 10-15 miles per day, so their little legs get tired. You can rent from Disney, but I usually recommend renting from KingdomStrollers.com or OrlandoStrollerRentals.com. They are a little nicer and it is great to have them at the resorts.
I would also plan where you would like to eat and highly suggest at least one
Character Dining Experience. They are such a wonderful way to get some special time with your favorite Disney friends. The Garden Grill, the Crystal Palace and the Disney Junior Play 'n Dine at the Hollywood & Vine are just a few of our family's favorites.
To start planning your days in the park, there is a great website perfect for planning with small children. The
Planning For Pre-School Kids and Little Ones site is chalked full of fun ideas the whole family can enjoy together.
I hope I have given you a few tips and an idea of where to start, Annette, but if there is anything else I may assist you with, please
send me a question and let me know.
Magical Wishes,
Lauren
