It's our first trip to Disney world. We are staying at The Fort Wilderness lodge, and we booked mickeys backyard BBQ with a 6 and 9 yr old. Do we have to use the bus to get there, or can we take a boat? Thanks!

    Hi, Jennifer!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It's always exciting to hear from first-time vacationers. You've come to the right place for planning advice and helpful tips. You are also going to love staying at Disney's Wilderness Lodge! It truly is one of Walt Disney World's most unique resort hotels.

When needing transportation to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground to attend Mickey's Backyard BBQ, there will be boat access from Disney's Wilderness Lodge. It's my family's favorite way to get over to Fort Wilderness. Just be sure to read the sign at the Boat Dock so you get on the right boat, there are several boats going different places. Last time we were there it was the Blue Flag Boat. You can also access Magic Kingdom by boat in lieu of the bus.

Here are some additional tips to help make your vacation magical:

    • While visiting Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, don't forget to check out the Chip 'n' Dale Campfire Sing-A-Long. This is a free event and always so much fun!

    • Request "First Visit" buttons at the front desk when you check in. Cast Members love recognizing those that are visiting for the first time.

I hope this information is helpful in your planning, Jennifer! Please let us know if you have any additional questions. We are here to help!

    Have a rootin'-tootin' time,

    Faith D.
