This is our first trip to Disney. We are staying at POR in early June. Will it be faster to take our car to the parks or to use the free transportation?

    Hi Wendy,

Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. How exciting to be planning your first trip to Walt Disney World. Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is a lovely resort. The rural Louisiana theme is so relaxing!

My family tends to like to drive when we visit the Disney theme parks. As a guest at a Walt Disney World resort hotel, you can park at the Disney theme parks for free. We do find that it is a bit quicker for us to drive our own car to the theme parks when we are staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel. The exception to this is Magic Kingdom. At Magic Kingdom, when you park, you still need to make your way to the Transportation & Ticket Center from the parking lot and then take a monorail or ferry boat to the Magic Kingdom. This adds enough time that taking the bus from your resort will likely be a shorter trip. Many people enjoy using Disney transportation for all travel around Walt Disney World. It is a great perk. My family simply finds that we do not mind driving on vacation, and we feel that it saves us some time.

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Wendy. Have a great time planning your magical vacation, and please do let us know if you have any further questions.
