first trip to Disney staying at BLT with 3adults in one bedroom villa unsure if a value resort is better! Transportation is scary! How long does the bus take, would the monorail be better? Can we give up luxury? Can we afford not to? could use some advice

    Hi Melinda,

Congratulations on your first trip to Walt Disney World!

Bay Lake Tower is a great choice. It's a newer resort within walking distance to the Magic Kingdom. However, it sounds like you are concerned with your vacation budget. So, let's take a look at some other options.

The bus can take 30 minutes or longer depending on where you are staying and which park you are headed to. For example, All-Star Movies to the Magic Kingdom can be a long ride. And that doesn't include wait time for the next bus to arrive. Also consider that in the morning and evenings, you are likely to be entering a bus with standing room only.

Since you are three adults looking to travel together, I would suggest a moderate resort that has queen size beds. This would include the Port Orleans French Quarter (with boat transportation to Downtown Disney) and Coronado Springs Resort. With the savings, I would highly recommend renting a car! You will reduce your wait and travel times by driving around WDW in a rental vehicle. WDW is twice the size of Manhattan!

For instance, on our recent WDW trip, I took the bus back to our hotel from Downtown Disney with my son. It took us over an hour to go from DD to the Polynesian including wait time for the bus. My husband who had left earlier to return to the room to do some work was at the hotel within 20 minutes.

Our rental vehicle for 9 nights was $245 total. Look for great rates at www.mousesavers.com.

Let me know if I can help further!
