This is my first trip to Disney and we are planning on staying from August 16th through Ausut 23rd. We will be bringing our 2 year old son as well. Should we stay in all star movies or port orleans riverside?

    Hi Emily!

Both resorts are great options, and offer you the Disney World Resort benefits that help to make your vacation even more magical. A moderate resort such as the Port Orleans Riverside, has a few more amenities compared to a value resort like the All Star Movies. While both have a quick service dining option, the moderate resort also features a sit down table service dining option. The rooms are slightly bigger and there is beautiful scenery around Port Orleans Riverside. While All Star Movies has those giant "icons" that are sure to capture your little one's attention! Port Orleans Riverside has a larger feel and there is more walking to get between some areas of the resort compared to All Star Movies. Both offer bus service to the Disney theme parks, and Port Orleans Riverside has a boat to get you to Downtown Disney. Port Orleans Riverside is also closer to Magic Kingdom than the All Star Resorts. If you are driving, you might feel that this is an advantage. One more thing worth mentioning: if you will need a refrigerator, the Port Orleans Riverside rooms come with one while the All Star Movies provide them at an additional charge, about $10 or so per night (subject to change).

When deciding, I think about what works for my family and what we want to experience on our trip. Because the little ones like the All Star Resort "icons", it's a good way to stay at a Disney resort and save money, which you might use towards enjoying a special experience at Walt Disney World. (Maybe a special dinner show or character dining, or even a Pirate and Pals Fireworks Voyage!) If you would like a more scenic resort to enjoy beautiful landscapes along the Sassagoula River, than the Port Orleans Riverside resort might be your choice for this trip. Let me know if you need anymore help planning your trip!
