This will be our first trip to Disney! It is myself and my two sons- ages 12 and 14. We are staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort and have two questions. 1.Which is the best area and room type for us to be staying? 2.Do the resorts offer early check i

    Hi Melinda,

Planning your first Disney vacation is so exciting! Caribbean Beach is a fun, colorful resort with a lot of Disney magic.

As far as the "best" area, I would go for something that is close to Old Port Royale where the food court, shops and main pool are located. Martinique 26, 25, or 24 (in that order) are good options, and Trinidad North 31, 32, 33. These rooms are slightly more expensive per night since they are preferred locations. Your next best bet would be Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51.

Pirate themed rooms can also be fun, although your older kids might not care as much about the theming. These rooms are in Trinidad South which is REALLY far from Old Port Royale, but there is a bus stop located near building 36.

As far as early check in, the answer is yes, and no. My best advice is to do the online check in up to 10 days prior to your vacation. During the process you'll be asked for your arrival time. When you get to the resort a packet with all of your resort information will be waiting for you, and sometimes your room may even be ready. It really depends on how crowded the resort is and what time guests who are checking out leave. If your room isn't ready, bell services will gladly store any carry on items or luggage that you have while you go out and play in the parks. You can get a text message or phone call once your room is available.

Hope this helps. Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
