First trip to Disney with 10 y/o girl. We may stay at AoA in the Finding Nemo suite but are worried that it may be too childish. Will there be other kids in her age range staying at AoA or is it mostly for younger kids? Other ideas in $ range if not?

Hi Alan! Thanks for coming by to let us help you plan that magical first visit to Walt Disney World!

While it may seem like the theme of Disney's Art of Animation Resort is geared more toward little kids, I've seen lots of "big" kids (including some well past actual childhood!) enjoying this resort hotel. We do have a small child, but my husband and I have as much fun as he does exploring all the scenes from classic Disney movies, complete with larger-than-life characters, in the courtyards of the various sections of the resort. We love to walk on "Route 66" in the Cars area and read all the creative road signs. If it's not too chilly for a dip in the pool, the Big Blue Pool in the Finding Nemo area is always a great spot for kids of all ages.

You can also head across the bridge and check out the fun and funky atmosphere of Disney's Pop Century Resort. There you can point out giant icons like the Rubik's cube or the Mickey phone and tell her about the "old days" when we were kids!

Alan, I really think Disney's Art of Animation Resort is fun for the young, and for the young at heart. I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time making memories with your daughter there. Wishing you a magical Walt Disney World vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
