HI this will be our first trip to Disney how far in advance should I book a resort seems like no matter what dates I put in none of the suites or villas are available ?

    Hi Stacey,

I am so excited to hEAR you are planning your family's first visit to Walt Disney World Resort! You are in for such a treat; there is nothing like seeing this magical world for the very first time!

While you do not mention when you are planning to travel, if you are looking to book a Resort reservation in 2018 or later, this is likely the issue. Currently it is only possible to make online bookings for Walt Disney World Resort hotels for stays in 2017 as the room rates for 2018 have not yet been finalized. Typically room rates tend to be released each summer for the following year, at which time they will then be available for online booking.

Particularly if you are interested in booking a room category with limited inventory (such as a suite at some Resort hotels), you are able to call Disney directly at 407-W-DISNEY (407-934-7639) to make room reservations up to 499 days in advance.  While your room rate will not be finalized until the 2018 rates get released, you at least achieve the peace of mind in knowing your reservation is secured.

If you are intending to stay in 2017 and you are still having issues securing a reservation, it could be that your preferred room type is already fully booked, particularly if you are travelling over a busy period. I suggest you call Disney Reservations at the number above to verify.

Stacey, if you haven't already done so, be sure to watch the Walt Disney World Resort Vacation Planning Video which, in my opinion, is one of the best ways to become acquainted with what Walt Disney World has to offer. I'll bet it will put your trip excitement into overdrive!

Should you have any other questions as you continue with your trip planning, be sure to send them our way. We are here to help and would be so happy to hEAR from you!

    Magically Yours,

    Trish
