First timers, 3 families-11 in total. Would appreciate tips on using Dining Plan. Such an expensive trip we want to make sure we make best use of the dollars we've spent to get some great food and great experiences. Thanks!

    Hi, Eric!

    Great question!

Never use a snack credit on a bottle of water. WDW allows Guests to bring in their own bottles of water or even refillable, closeable bottles, so do! A wide-mouthed bottle is best so you can get ice in there, too, keeping a cold drink ready for each of you.

Next, zip-shut baggies! At Quick Service and Table Service restaurants, if you simply can't eat dessert, order something portable (such as a cookie) or ask for it to-go (such as a slice of cake, in a box, without the ice cream.) Take these back to your room for late night snacks or between meal snacks, free of charge, rather than waste them.

To maximize your Dining Dollar, skip Signature Dining (cost 2 TS credits) but aim for the most expensive restaurants and menu items on the plan. Check menu prices at DisneyWorld.com or on the unofficial site allears.net, to determine where to book your TS reservations with an eye on value. (i.e. Dining at Disney's Hollywood Studios' Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant is great fun, but you'll find more (less expensive) wraps and burgers there than at our favorite, Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano.

Aim for QS restaurants that eat like TS such as Sunshine Seasons, at Epcot and Wolfgang Puck Express at Downtown Disney's Marketplace. Both offer TS-style entrees, with Sunshine Seasons also offering a spectacular bakery filled with gorgeous desserts. Wolfgang Puck Express serves Guests their orders, refills drinks and offers huge, delicious portions of freshly-made creations. Yum.

Lastly, snacks. If you find that you have extra look for creative ways to use them on items that you can enjoy back in your room. Carrot cake cookies in Hollywood Studios, custom-made chocolate-covered pretzel rods at Downtown Disney and chocolate eclairs at Epcot are favorites.

Send more questions regarding restaurant or more DP tips, Eric; I could go on for hours on this one! :-)
