As a first timer I have no experience of Disney do's and don't. If we see a character out and about or during character dining are we allowed to get close to them? Also can we ask them all for autographs

    Welcome back to planDisney, Hayley!

I am thrilled to answer another Walt Disney World Resort planning question for you. It is amazing to hear that your upcoming trip will be your very first visit! I feel incredibly special to share in planning this experience with you.

No longer are the days where you had to wander the parks to try and find your favorite Disney Character. You can now see who is available to meet, and where they are meeting Guests, by searching "Character Experiences" on the Walt Disney World Resort website. For instance, no trip is complete for me without seeing the main mouse himself and I personally prefer to find him with Minnie at Adventurers Outpost in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Most Disney pals are able to sign autographs (there are a few that can't or that offer a stamp instead) and they love hugs and photos. You can also find them listed on the My Disney Experience App.

During Character Dining Experiences, Disney Characters make their way around the restaurant to visit each table in order to make sure that everyone gets their time with them. Once you are seated, the Cast Member will usually tell you how the characters are rotating around the restaurant and who you can expect to see next. My family adores these experiences as they are such a great way to take a break and spend time with our Disney friends. The food is also delicious! We love Tusker House Restaurant and Garden Grill Restaurant

Please let me know if you have any other questions, Hayley, before your incredible first visit to the most Magical Place on Earth! Speaking of first visits, make sure that you ask a Cast Member at your Disney Resort Hotel or at Guest Services, for a "First Visit" celebration button. It's a great way to let others know you're celebrating and a fun souvenir to take with you.

    Magical Wishes,

    Lauren

Hi-ya, Pals! I'm Lauren, a wife and mother of three who's enjoyed many special occasions at Walt Disney World Resort with my family and friends. From graduations to birthdays, and even our Fairy Tale Honeymoon we’ve loved celebrating at the most Magical Place on Earth. I now have pre-teens who check wait times in the My Disney Experience App just for fun, so I look for any excuse to return "home" often and would love to help you plan a little extra Pixie Dust for your next magical adventure.
