First timer to Disneyland!!! Have tons of questions on when is the best time to go? Summer or Fall? Spring time is hard with my husbands work schedule Best not costly place to stay? How many days? Family of 5- 3 kids aging 10/10/9 Thanks Jill

    Hi, Jill!

I am SO excited to be part of planning your first Disneyland Resort vacation! If you’re debating between the summer or fall months, my preference would have to be fall. Fall typically brings a bit cooler weather, and some fun events, too! Mickey’s Halloween Party is always a favorite, and spending the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort is also a truly magical experience!

As for hotel preferences, I highly recommend staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel if you’re able to! As a Resort Hotel guest, you get the added perk of Extra Magic Hour, an early-admission option. My family loves the Disneyland Hotel for its fun, themed towers, and awesome monorail waterslides! If you’re looking for a less-expensive option, check Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, or one of the Good Neighbor Hotels – many are within walking distance, and are Disney-approved, quality hotels.

For your family’s first visit to the Disneyland Resort, I’d recommend a 3-day Ticket. This will give your family time to explore both parks without feeling rushed. Luckily, Disneyland Park is just steps away from Disney California Adventure Park, so you can easily go back-and-forth if you choose to Park-hop!

If you have any other questions as you continue your planning, I’m all EARS!

Meet the Panelist: Kristin, California

Greetings from sunny California! I live less than an hour from the Disneyland Resort, and have been an Annual Passholder (and now a Magic Key Passholder) for more than 20 years! As a mom of three kids ages 5-10, I consider myself an expert at navigating the Disneyland Resort with little ones. My family of five can’t get enough of the magic and happiness we encounter every time we step foot on Main Street, U.S.A. I look forward to sprinkling pixie dust on your next visit to the Happiest Place on Earth! Learn More About Kristin
