We are going for the first time with our 9 year old son. We are vegetarians and do not eat meat, eggs, onion and garlic. We have a disney plan and are going to stay for 6 nights. Please suggest good places for table dining, counter service and snacks.

    Hi, Sunil!

My daughter is a pescetarian, so I know how tough it can be to find delicious and satisfying meals at some resorts.

Head over to AllEars.Net, a fantastic, unofficial website for all things Disney. Once there, enter "vegetarian" in their search bar, and you'll find lots of posts about dining throughout WDW as a vegetarian. I especially like the posts listed under "Special Dietary Needs" once you've landed in a food post. There are lots of entries here which are so helpful.

Wherever you go for Table Service dining, mention that your family are strict vegetarians when making your reservation. That way, this dietary need will be attached to your reservation. Upon check-in at the restaurants, be sure that "vegetarian" is included on your reservation. Remind your server of your particular needs, highlighting the avoidance of eggs, onion and garlic, too, as you may be the best source of education on this topic. At TS locations, ask to speak with the chef, as he or she will be thrilled to customize your dining experience, based on what is on the menu as well as what he or she can create just for you. (I've seen several of these creations created on demand and I always wish that I had ordered THAT. Really. They are that delicious and beautiful to see, too.)

At Quick Service locations, opt for restaurants that can customize your plate. At AllEars.Net, you'll find a great entry on vegetarian Quick Service meals, too. Simply enter "vegetarian" into the search bar and look for the post entitled "Vegetarian / Vegan Counter Service Meals in the Parks."

Menus change seasonally, so you may find more vegetarian-friendly options once you get to WDW. Chefs are constantly looking to offer Guests healthy options, so ask the Cast Member taking your order for suggestions based on your dietary needs, too.

For more specifics, send me another question, Sunil; I'd love to help!
