    Hello! This will be my first time at WDW in a wheelchair. I am bringing my own wheelchair, because I will also need it at the airport. My question is: Is my wheelchair safe while I am on a ride? I am scared of losing it.

    Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Laurie!

    You will soon be enjoying all the magic of Walt Disney World Resort!  I think you will find that Walt Disney World Resort does an excellent job providing services and accommodations for Guests with mobility disabilities.

    I can understand your concern about bringing your personal wheelchair to the parks and leaving it unattended.  For many attractions, the queue is wheelchair accessible, so you may remain in your wheelchair until you board the ride vehicle.  Your wheelchair will be set aside for you on the ride platform.  For some attractions, you can even remain in your wheelchair if you wish.  This list of attractions is sorted by accessibility level.  When approaching the entrance to an attraction, the Cast Member will be happy to chat with you about the procedure for that particular attraction.

    Although I realize it is not the same thing, when my children were small we would often leave our stroller with our personal belongings (no valuables, of course) unattended while we were enjoying attractions and it was never an issue.  I would recommend decorating or marking your wheelchair, perhaps with a brightly colored ribbon and label it clearly with your name.  This way it will be easy for you to locate, and it is much less likely for someone else to confuse it with theirs.  My friend and wonderful fellow panelist Angie mentioned her family member was concerned about leaving his daughter's specialized wheelchair, so he attached a taillight designed for bicycles that is also a GPS tracking device to give him peace of mind.

    I thought I would mention that if you do leave your wheelchair outside an attraction, Cast Members often tidy up the "parking" area to keep the walkways clear.  If you don't spot your wheelchair right away, ask the nearest Cast Member to help you locate it.

    If you still don't feel comfortable leaving your wheelchair in the parks, you might consider renting one.
