This will be our first time to WDW. My daughter is 5 years old. We're going to have time to visit two theme parks. Everyone says Magic Kingdom is a must. Which one other park do you recommend for a child this age?

    Hi MaryAlice,

How much fun to visit Walt Disney World for your first time with your 5-year-old daughter!  She is at such a great age to experience the magic of Walt Disney World for the first time.  It was only a couple of years ago that my own daughter was that age, so I am going to base my suggestions on what she enjoyed when she was five years old.

I really do think that there are enough activities and attractions at all four theme parks that you could have a great time with your daughter at any of them.  If I had to choose, I would choose Disney's Animal Kingdom.  There is so much to do there with a little one, especially if your daughter is an animal lover.  My daughter has always loved a ride on Kilimanjaro Safaris, where you can see a wide variety of exotic animals, including giraffes, zebras, elephants, and more!  Little ones also often enjoy a ride on the Wildlife Express Train out to Rafiki's Planet Watch.  Once you arrive, you can spend time at Affection Section, where your daughter can pet animals including rare, domesticated breeds.  I have some great vacation photos of my daughter interacting with the animals out there.  Our family also loves the Festival of the Lion King show.  This show is amazing and captivating for young children and adults.  At the end of the show, the performers choose children from the audience to participate in the show.  If you are sitting close to the floor, your daughter might be picked for this pixie-dusted experience!

Again, I think that your daughter would also have a great time at Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios; however, if you only have two days with a 5-year-old, I think that Magic Kingdom and Disney's Animal Kingdom are great choices for theme parks to visit.

I hope that this information is helpful for you, MaryAlice!  Have a great time planning your trip, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
