First time visitor here - will be traveling with husband and 6 year old son. Which park is the best for kids his age? Trying to pinpoint that so we can then choose a hotel in that area. A pool is a must have :) Thanks

Hi Heather! Thanks so much for visiting us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm sure you are so excited for your first Walt Disney World vacation! First time visits are super special and packed with extra "pixie dust". Make sure to stop by Guest Relations to pick up some complementary First Visit buttons.

I have a 5-year old son, and his favorite park is Magic Kingdom. The park has so many classic attractions, like Pirates Of The Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion, and It's A Small World among many others. I love that my favorite rides as a child are now my son's favorites. Cinderella's Castle is one of Disney's most iconic features and for our family, no Walt Disney World vacation is complete without getting to visit the castle. Most of the time, we spend an extra day at the Magic Kingdom just so we can do everything that we love one last time before our trip is over.

With that being said, I would highly suggest a resort on the monorail loop. Staying at a monorail resort is often convenient due to its proximity to the Magic Kingdom and the added transportation choices. I stayed at the Grand Floridian a few weeks ago and was very appreciative of the water taxi service that was available to us.

As far as pools go, each of the monorail resorts has one. (or sometimes two!) Disney's Grand Floridian, Disney's Contemporary, and Disney's Polynesian Village also all have white sand beaches. Just so you are aware, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is undergoing refurbishment and the Nanea Volcano Pool and slide will be unavailable until further notice.

I would suggest looking into those options and choose the resort that best fits the needs of your family.

Happy planning, and have a wondEARful first Walt Disney World vacation!
