first time visiting WDW and have no idea how the paying goes. We are buying a 4 day park hopper from a military base. What does that do for us and what else do we need besides room reservations and a dining plan.7 Children ages 6mths-10yrs, adults 26-55.

    Hi Jennifer!

With a 4 day Park Hopper, you can go into the theme parks any four days within the first 14 days of use; the hopper option allows you to visit two or more theme parks on the same day.  So for example, you could go to the Magic Kingdom on Monday, Epcot on Tuesday, Disney's Animal Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios on Wednesday, rest a day, then go to the Magic Kingdom again on Friday!

You definitely need a room to stay in!  You don't, however, have to do a Disney Dining Plan.  Some guests do save a lot of money by being on one, but others don't, and some actually pay more!  Whatever you do, be sure to make Advanced Dining Reservations.  They can be made online or via phone at (407) WDW-DINE.  A lot of Table Service restaurants do not take walk ups of any kind; you really need to make a reservation and Walt Disney World has some really great dining experiences for the whole family!

There are great lodging discounts for the military at the moment, so be sure to ask about that!  I suggest calling Disney directly or working with an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner, a travel agent who specializes in travel to Walt Disney World.

Since it is your first time, I highly recommend picking up the book "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal.  It's a great book for first timers as it has just the right amount of information without being overwhelming.  It's also a beautiful book full of color photographs.  It will give you a good feel for what there is to do at Walt Disney World.

Hopefully this will get you started.  Write back if you have any more questions!
