Hi, it’s out first time visiting with a toddler and a baby. How can we purchase a fast pass for the rides so we don’t have to be waiting and the kids get frustrated. Also, what is the purpose of the magic bracelet?

    Welcome to planDisney, Olivia.

There's nothing quite like that first Disney trip with your children. I'm sure you're very excited to see the magic through their eyes. Yet, there naturally comes a certain level of stress because taking children to Disneyland Resort (or anywhere for that matter) adds some layers of complexity.

If you'd like to decrease your wait times, you and your partner could each purchase Disney Genie+. You can do this on a day-to-day basis through the Disneyland mobile app. When you purchase Disney Genie+, you'll be able to make Lightning Lane selections for multiple attractions in both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Lightning Lanes allow you to skip the regular standby lines and get on attractions much quicker.

It's very easy to use Disney Genie+. You simply open up your Disneyland mobile app and tap on the "Tip Board." You can then select the theme park that you're visiting (the default will be Disneyland Park). You'll then get a list of all the attractions. The attractions that are available for a Lightning Lane selection will have a Disney Genie+ box with a return time. If you find a time that works for you, simply tap "Book Experience." You'll then find a list of all the people linked to your account. Simply select the people you want to book this experience for and select "Confirm."

Once you scan into the attraction or two hours after you make your most recent Lightning Lane selection (whatever comes first), you're then free to book your next Lightning Lane.

You can combine Disney Genie+ with the complimentary Rider Switch. When you and your partner arrive at an attraction with a height requirement, simply inform the Cast Member that you'd like to utilize Rider Switch. They will scan the ticket of the person waiting with the kids. You'll then be able to swap once the first person has experienced the attraction. The second person will then be able to use the Lightning Lane to experience the attraction.

This is what my wife and I do when we take our two young kids and it works out great!

MagicBand+ is a device that goes on your wrist. It enables Guests to enter the theme parks, check in at Lightning Lane entrances, enter their hotel room, and enjoy really cool features, like haptic vibrations and colorful lights during nighttime spectaculars. It is great for convenience because you won't have to root around in order to find your phone or ticket. But it's not needed in order to enjoy your trip. Each person in my family has one for fun.

I hope that's helpful, Olivia! Thanks for stopping by planDisney. Come and see us again if we can serve you in any way.
