Hi Erin!
A whole family of first timers! Where to begin...it's probably best that your family look into the vacation packages that include the dining plan. This will significantly help you plan and save a bit of money by booking everything together. Start looking into any special deals that are being offered such as free dining or any free nights.
The best time to visit Walt Disney World is during the off season which is after New Year's, before spring break (end of March, early April), before summer vacation (usually in late June), and before the holiday's (Thanksgiving and Christmas). These times of year will be less crowded, less expensive and less HOT.
I believe there is no such thing as seeing everything at Walt Disney World, but if you want to see as much as you can, you will need at least 5 days. Give yourselves at least one day at each park and even 2 days at the Magic Kingdom if you can spare the extra day. How about water parks? They are my favorite, especially in the warmer months. If your kids are water babies, they will definitely love splashing around in
Typhoon Lagoon and/or
Blizzard Beach.
Your children are the perfect age for character dining! You can make dining reservations up to 180 days in advance. My favorite is
Chef Mickey's because my son LOVES the classic characters like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy. You should work in at least one character meal during your vacation.
Don't forget to stop by any Guest Relations to pick up complimentary "1st Visit" buttons for your entire family.
Have a magical day!
Leslie
