Hi! First time traveling to Disney with at the time will be 21 mths old. How do rider switch pass work? Do I book one FP+ and we use the RSP or do both adults book FP+. Also, do we need to book a FP+ for character meet and greet with our under 3 year old.

    Hi Stacey,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Many of the most popular attractions in Walt Disney World’s Theme Parks offers something called Rider Switch, which allows two or more adults to take turns waiting with children who are too small to experience an attraction (or any other Guest that doesn’t wish to do so), without the need to wait in line twice. My husband and I have used it several times with our little one and it’s been a great way to get to see and do attractions that he isn’t tall enough to experience yet.

Each attraction seems to have a different policy with respect to Rider Switch passes. Some will give them to you at the entrance to the attraction, others will require you to be almost boarding the attraction before you can get the pass. Because of this, I would recommend that all of the members of your party that want to experience a given attraction hold a FastPass+ selection for it on the same date and time.

Finally, my son’s favourite attractions involve meeting characters. We always include character greetings such as Meet Mickey and Friends at the Epcot Character Spot among our FastPass+ selections and he’s always been able to accompany us. The same holds true for any attraction where he meets the height requirement.

Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions about your upcoming visit.

    Have a Magical Day,

As Disney Vacation Club members, we often plan trips for large, and sometimes even multi-generational, groups to come and enjoy the fun with us. Learn More About Lynne
