This will be our first time taking our son to Disney. What are the must see's for a 2 1/2 yr old boy?

    Hi Stefanie:

I have two young boys, and I would love to share some of my family's must-dos for our Disney vacations. Your family may have different tastes, but hopefully these recommendations will be a good start to planning your trip.

At the Magic Kingdom, we always ride Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan's Flight, and It's a Small World.

At Epcot, we always make sure to ride or visit Soarin', The Seas with Nemo and Friends, Spaceship Earth, and take a tour of the countries in Epcot's World Showcase. Highlights of World Showcase are the Kidcot Fun Stops, which are craft stations where children can draw and color while learning about different cultures.

Our must-dos at Hollywood Studios include Toy Story Mania, Muppet Vision 3-D, and the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show.

At Animal Kingdom, we always get a close look at the animals on the Kilimanjaro Safari and head over to the huge Tree of Life to see It's Tough to be a Bug! 3-D movie. This can be an intense experience, so you may want to avoid the movie if you think it wouldn't suit your child.

In addition, our boys enjoy character meals, such as Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort and Playhouse Disney's Play 'N Dine at Hollywood Studios.

There are many other attractions besides the ones listed that your family will enjoy, including parades, character meet and greets, and firework shows. Check the park schedules for parades and shows throughout the day. I find the best advice when traveling with my young boys is to let them control the pace and pick the rides that look appealing to them, so long as they meet any height restrictions. Remember to check in at City Hall at the Magic Kingdom, or at guest relations at other parks, and pick up a "1st Visit" button. Many Cast Members will go out of their way to greet your son with a kind gesture to make his visit more memorable.

    Enjoy your vacation.
