First time staying on property and using Disney transportation. We're staying at the Art of Animation resort. How much time should we allot to get to other properties for dining like for Chef Mickeys or Mickey's Backyard BBQ?

    Hello, Lori!

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel! One of the many benefits of staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel is letting someone else worry about navigating the roads. I suggest at least 90 minutes of travel time when using the complimentary Walt Disney World® Bus Service. Depending on the time of year, you may want to allow more time during busy holidays and peak summer travel times.

Keep in mind that buses do not travel from resort to resort, so you need to add more time to allow for transferring from bus to boat or monorail. When traveling to Chef Mickey's you will first need to take a bus to the Magic Kingdom. From there, you can either walk to Disney's Contemporary Resort or travel by monorail. Chef Mickey's is located on the fourth floor of the resort hotel. You will also need to take a bus to the Magic Kingdom when traveling to Mickey's Backyard BBQ. You can then take a water taxi to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, where the outdoor pavilion is just a quick walk from the dock.

I hope this helps, and you enjoy your dining experiences. Please let us know if we can answer other questions that may arise as you plan your magical visit.

    Happy Planning!
