This will be our first time staying in a cabin at Fort Wilderness in September 2016. For a family of 6, what do you suggest as the best mode of transportation to and from the parks daily. Driving from NC, so we'll have our car. Our car or Disney Bus?

Hi Melanie! Welcome to the wonderful Fort Wilderness Cabins. You will enjoy the quiet and peacefulness that this resort offers especially after busy days in the parks. The cabins have all been refurbished and are comfortable and efficient. The best part is that they allow you to cook or keep food on hand and not rely on heading out to restaurants the entire time of your stay. You can get grocery services to deliver food so it is there upon arrival too.

Since you will have a car it does give you options. If you are heading to the Magic Kingdom you will not want to drive. The absolute easiest and fastest way to get to this park is to take the internal bus in the Fort and head down to the marina. There are boats that will leave about every 15-20 minutes and they take you to the entrance of the Magic Kingdom. You are literally only steps from the queues.

I also strongly suggest you also definitely take a Disney bus to Disney Springs. There is still a lot of construction going on with the roads and it is much easier to rely on Disney drivers to know where to go.

For Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom it is up to you whether you drive or take the Disney buses. Epcot buses drop you off quite a distance from the entrance so we often drive to that park just to have the convenience of coming and going at our wish.  Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios have more convenient drop off locations so we usually bus to those parks.

You might also consider renting a Golf Cart during your Fort Wilderness stay. They are pricey but with a cart you avoid the need to rely on the internal buses. And besides they are lots of fun and you can cruise in the evenings and enjoy the wildlife viewing.
