Hi Jami!
I first want to say thank you for working to take these students down to the Walt Disney World Resort. I sure wish that when I was in high school someone would have organized this type of class trip for me!
When planning a high school class trip to the Walt Disney World Resort, I can understand that ensuring the safety and security of the students is a top priority. At
Disney Resorts Collections hotels, Disney has overnight security to patrol the premises and maintain a safe environment for guests, however, they will not patrol to ensure that students are not sneaking out of their rooms after curfew.
To help answer your question, I reached out to a planDisney alumni, Andrea who often takes a large group of high school students to experience the magic of Disney. She had some tips that I wanted to pass along.
Andrea’s group has hired an outside security company in the past. I highly recommend that you
contact whomever you are working with at the Walt Disney World Resort group reservations to verify what their policy is on outside security. The hired security company watches all of the doors. If a door is opened, the security company calls one of the administrators.
Curfews are given out to the students (think midnight), and then each chaperone does a check-in of their assigned rooms. All students must be in their assigned rooms by curfew and at the time of the chaperone check-in time, all must listen to morning reminders. She recommends communicating to the students via an app like Remind as sometimes some of the kids are sleeping by curfew.
If you don’t already know, Group Reservations will be able to help explain what options are available for large groups for
theme park tickets, as well as Resort hotels. You can look into the
Disney Dining Plans as well to make dining easy for the kids!
I hope that you enjoy taking these kids to experience the magic. I am sure this will be an experience that they soon won’t forget!
