First time Fort Wildtness with our dog. Anything I should know besides keeping the dog leashed at all times?.

    Hot Diggity Dog, Denise!

I am paws-itively thrilled to welcome you back to planDisney with a question that combines two of my very favorite topics: Walt Disney World Resort and four-legged family members! It's always a treat to help a fellow Dog Mom make the most of their visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth, so I can't wait to dig into the details of your upcoming stay at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

As a proud pet parent himself, Mickey understands the importance of being able to bring your pup along on vacation. With this in mind, both the cabins and campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort are among Walt Disney World Resort's dog-friendly and pup-approved accommodations. You'll even receive a wag-inducing Welcome Kit from Pluto upon arrival filled with items and information designed to enhance the experience of Guests - human and canine alike. No ruff-ing it in The Most Magical Place on Earth!

It's important to keep in mind that a pet fee will be applied to your reservation and that you will need to register your pup when you complete the Online Check-In process if staying in one of the cabins or by requesting a pet-friendly loop (under 'Room and Amenity Requests') when booking your campsite. Per Walt Disney World's pet policies, dogs must be well-behaved, up-to-date on all vaccinations, and leashed (or in a carrier) at all times. I suggest requesting documentation of vaccinations from your vet and bringing it with you just in case.

While dogs are welcome (and encouraged) to call select Disney Resorts Collection hotels their magical homes away from home, they are to stay in the designated dog-friendly areas (helpfully identified here and in the information you receive upon check-in) and are not permitted in common areas such as restaurants, lobbies, and swimming pools. You will also need to plan on regularly checking in with your pup throughout the day as dogs are not to be left unattended for more than 7 hours at a time. In my experience, a midday theme park break is even more refreshing when combined with puppy snuggles.

An extra treat for you: While you're em-bark-ing on your days filled with magic, keep an eye out for souvenirs that will enable you to pixie dust your pup. I once grabbed chew toys made to resemble fan-favorite Mickey-shaped snacks, and they were a hit for my trio of furry family members.

I hope this was helpful, Denise! If you're in need of further assistance as you continue to plan, feel free to stop back by. I'd love to fetch additional information for you!

    Thinking Happy Thoughts,
