First time family vacation, traveling with a 2yr old boy and 8 yr old girl. What to expect, would my 2yr enjoy? We are driving down in august and staying for a week. Need help with planning.

    Hi Giselle,

It's so great to see a fellow NJ mom asking questions here on the Moms Panel! I have a 3 and 8 year old, so we are Moms in arms. During our last visit, my daughter was 2 and she had a great time. From the character meet and greets, the shows and the attractions that the whole family can enjoy, you won't have to worry about your children not enjoying their time at the Happiest Place on Earth.

    Here are a few tips:
    • Hit the parks early. It can get pretty hot in August, and with a toddler in tow, visiting the parks as soon as they open will help to get the whole family to visit popular attractions and shows. You'll also be able to visit your favorite characters early in the day when the crowds will be smaller.
    • Rest in the afternoon. We love to stay at a Disney Resort because of the easy transportation back to our hotel room for nap and rest time. The afternoon will be the hottest, so that's the perfect time to take the kids back to the room and have them go swimming, or maybe even take a nap.
    • Make your FastPass+ selections. When you book your stay at a Walt Disney Resort, your party will receive the new MagicBands and you will be able to experience the FastPass+ system. With this new system, you're able to choose the attractions, shows and character meet and greets weeks before your vacation. It's such a help when you have small children, and you can plan your day around the attractions you'll be visiting.
    • Use the filters on the Walt Disney World attractions page. You can figure out which attractions will be great for both of your kids and make a plan to visit them during your stay.

I hope I answered your question, Giselle. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask at any time.

    Have a fantastical Disney day!
