This is my very first time ever trying to plan a family vacation and I have NO idea where to start. Our trip wont be until next year but I need an estimated price on a trip for a family of 6 (includes 2 children ages 7 and 17). Where do I begin?!

    Hi, Mariah!

Not to worry; you're in good hands with the Moms Panel because every one of us has been your shoes.

The first thing I suggest is that you read through the great post Rooms for 5 Guests or More. There, you'll see how many options you have regarding accommodations. (Of course, you can always book standard rooms, too.) Those links in that post will enable you to see photos, amenities, dining options, etc., too. This will get your feet wet before jumping into the pricing differences; at least you'll see the differences between Value, Moderate, Deluxe and Deluxe Villas before seeing the price range.

When pricing hasn't yet been released for a trip I'm planning (or helping to plan) I like to use whatever data I can find for current pricing, to compare the differences between one resort and another. While prices will likely be higher the next year, at least you'll have an understanding of what fits your family's budget when it comes to resort choice, length of stay and time of year.

For highlights of current pricing of discounted packages, take a look at these Special Offers. Again, prices will be different next year, but you'll at least be able to see the range.

My suggestions for a party of 6? Check out Family Suites at Disney's All-Star Music Resort and Disney's Art of Animation Resort (Value Resorts). For a Moderate Resort Hotel, try The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. 2-Bedroom Deluxe Villas at any of the Deluxe Villa Resort Hotels will be more than enough room for your family, too.

Send another question with specifics such as dates of stay, and length of stay, Mariah; I'd love to help!
