Congratulations, Rosamaria!
This is big exciting news for you and your family -- welcome to cruising, and I'm so excited that you've chosen to sail with Captain Mickey for your
first cruise ever! You've got so much to look forward to and you and your whole crew will have such a blast... guaranteed!
Planning your outfits will be pretty important since there will be tons of photo opportunities! The guidelines for luggage when going on a cruise are a little bit more relaxed compared to flying on an airplane. But, you don't necessarily want to bring too much luggage, since storage inside your stateroom will be limited. So, if you can, limit your luggage to 1 to 2 pieces of check-in luggage for each member of your family. There will be shelves and cabinets and lots of hanging closet space inside your stateroom.
Yes - you can do your laundry onboard. I would still suggest bringing a 2nd swimsuit as an alternate :-). Laundry detergent and dryer sheets will be available at the laundry facilities onboard ($1 each). In your stateroom, there's a small cloth laundry bag that you can use to carry your laundry from your room to the nearest laundry area (there will be a few onboard). Or for your convenience, feel free to bring your own laundry bag with you. Use of the washer and dryer machines are charged to your onboard account via your Key to the World Card. There is a machine in the laundry area that you swipe your card, to start using any of the available machines.
I hope this information helps, Rosamaria. Please do write back with anymore questions that you may have. We're always happy to help.
Have a magical vacation!
