Going our first time to disney with 2 and 6 yr old boys. Which resort has the shortest travel time to the parks (most importantly MK)? We are deciding btw Port Orleans riverside and Caribbean beach resort. Also, would boys prefer one over the other ?

Hello Stefanie.  Thank you so much for asking your question on the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  We love answering your questions.

Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney's Port Orleans Riverside are both great choices for your Walt Disney World vacation.  Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort is considered and Epcot Area Resort and Disney's Port Orleans Riverside is considered a Downtown Disney Area Resort.  Both are about a 15-20 minute bus ride to Magic Kingdom.

If I were reserving a room for 2 young boys, I would look into the pirate rooms at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort.  I have personally stayed in the pirate themed rooms and they are a lot of fun.  The beds are made to look like real pirate ships and side tables look like barrels.  If you are not interested in the pirate themed rooms, I would still recommend staying there.  It is my favorite Walt Disney World Resort.  The pool area is so much fun.  The main pool is a zero entry pool which makes it great for kids of all ages.  You are sure to have fun zipping down both of the water slides and getting sprayed by the water cannons.  There is also a unique play area that features mini water slides and a barrel of water that tips at a moments notice...be alert or you might get soaked!  My daughter really enjoys this water play area.  If hot tubs interest you, Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort has two twelve person spas where you can relax after a long day at the theme parks.  The food court area is themed beautifully even down to the kids meals, they are served in a sand bucket complete with a shovel.  Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort also has nightly campfires where you and your children can roast marshmallows and enjoy s'mores.

I can't say enough good things about Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort.  We stay here often and always enjoy ourselves.  I hope I have made your decision a little easier, enjoy your vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
