First Time at Disney with my 7 year old What are the things we must do?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Colleen!

I am so excited to hEAR you are bringing your 7-year-old to the Most Magical Place on Earth for the first time! I have a 7-year-old as well and love the twinkle in his eye as we walk into the parks.

Sometimes the "must-do" list for a 7-year-old is tricky because there are definite "thrill-seekers" and then kids who prefer more moderate attractions. If your son or daughter is a roller coaster fan, two attractions that my family puts at the top of our list are Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, both at Magic Kingdom Park. If these are appealing to you, I would highly recommend booking a Fastpass+ for these. If you are unfamiliar, you are able to book up to three Fastpass+ selections per day per park at no extra cost. In essence, this allows you to enter the attraction much faster and avoid the standby line.

Also at Magic Kingdom Park, another "must-do" in my opinion, is the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade. Happening every afternoon down Main Street, U.S.A., this parade is full of music, characters and fun!

Colleen, have you thought about dining? One recommendation I always make to friends who are first time Walt Disney World Resort guests is to book at least one Character Dining experience. I find this is a great way to entertain kids while eating and meet some famous friends! One of my favorites is found at Disney's Animal Kingdom: Tusker House Restaurant. The food is amazing and you will get to meet Donald Duck and friends in the most adorable safari attire!

Speaking of safaris, if your son or daughter likes animals, a "must-do" is Kilimanjaro Safaris. This attraction makes you feel like you are in the heart of the savanna. And.. the pictures are unbelievable.

Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn't recommend the two newest lands at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. While each very different from the other, the level of immersion is second to none. If your 7-year-old loves to play games, take a spin on Toy Story Mania, located in Toy Story Land. My 7-year-old can't get enough of this attraction!

Colleen, I hope this helps as you are looking ahead to your first trip. Come on back and see us with any other questions you might have! Best wishes for a pixie-dusted vacation,

    Lauren
