First time to Disney world but many trips to Disneyland......have a few questions. Trying to decide whether to stay on site or off......also need some info with dining plans. Worth it or not? How many days is recommended for first trip...kids are 12 &

Hello Karen, welcome to the Disney Parks Mom´s Panel!

With many trips to Walt Disney World I am still planning my family´s first Disneyland visit.

Walt Disney World Resorts offer great accommodations and benefits that can make a big difference during a visit.  Some Disney Deluxe Resorts are located within walking distance of one or two theme parks.  These are relaxed and comfortable walks that may take less time than any transportation service.  I have always enjoyed staying on site and so far I find prices to be competitive.

Disney Dining Plans can be a great way to enjoy a culinary experience during your vacation.  Review what each dining plan offers and decide which is more appropriate for your family.  The Deluxe Dining Plan has allowed my family to enjoy Character Restaurants and Signature Restaurants during every day of our vacations.
I suggest reviewing Disney Restaurants and their menu to calculate if a dining plan is a good value for your family.

When visiting I try to stay 4 to 7 nights at a Disney Resort.  This allows my family 2 or 3 full days at Magic Kingdom, 1 or 2 at Animal Kingdom, 1 at Epcot, 1 at Hollywood Studios and 1 at the resort during long vacations.  During the day at the resort we also get to visit Downtown Disney.

If you are also visiting Disney´s Water Parks you may consider adding 2 to 4 more days.

Thank you for visiting and hope to hear again from you.
