As a first time Disney visitor in May 2010, I'm wondering would it beneficial to use "regular" checkin instead of online? Will I recieve more information if I use the regular checkin?

Jolene, online check-in provides the convenience of bypassing the possible wait times and long lines that may occur on site. After you check-in online, when you arrive at the resort, you will go to the designated area at the front desk for online check-in. You will receive the same welcome packet and check-in information that guests completing on site check-in will receive. It is definitely beneficial to check-in online. Congratulations on your first trip to Walt Disney World!
