Welcome to planDisney, Kimi! Your first trip to
Walt Disney World Resort? Oh my! I feel like a Fairy Godmother, here to help prepare you for your ball.
Ready for some
Sala-gadoola-menchicka-boo-la Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo? As we wave the wand and get you ready for your debut, Disney has official
dress code guidelines. Basic rules: costumes cannot be worn by guests over the age of 14; outfits cannot drag on the ground; and your clothes cannot detract from the experience of other guests (such as no offensive language or imagery, and they should not reveal what should be covered in a family-oriented environment). Although costumes are unallowed, many people
DisneyBound and wear outfits that pay homage to their beloved Disney characters and stories.
You will go through a walk-through screening process and bag check as you enter a park. According to the
Walt Disney World Resort property rules, suitcases, bags, coolers, or backpacks larger than 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high are not allowed in any theme park or water park.
One thing that may surprise you is how much you will walk during a day at
Magic Kingdom Park,
EPCOT,
Disney's Hollywood Studios, and
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. A good day can have you topping 25,000 steps or more. I suggest thinking about comfortable shoes and how much you want to carry with you as part of your outfit planning.
In the Sunshine State, you may expect that you will need to pack sunscreen, and you do. You may be surprised by how frequently it rains in Florida. It seems most days have a sunshower. I suggest bringing disposable ponchos or a light raincoat and hope by having them, you won't need them.
Since this is your first visit, you may want to check out the planDisney podcast on
tips to make your first trip magical at Walt Disney World Resort. Your trip looks to be near the end of
EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival. While it is spectacular for the gardens and floral topiaries, be sure to check out the
Disney Eats: Foodie Guide to Flower & Garden Festival 2024. It will make the festival that much sweeter!
And be sure to stop in a merchandise store in any of the parks and ask for a "First Visit Celebration Pin." This fun button is a special treat from Mickey to his Guests and makes for a special souvenir.
Please come back to
planDisney with any other questions as you prepare for your pumpkin coach to the Most Magical Place on Earth.
Live like the clock never strikes midnight and the ball never ends!
