Since this is our first time to Disney we have made our reservations for meals, park tickets and wondered about what is free for us to do also? I believe fireworks and parades? Do we need to bring bathing suits to the theme park for water slides?

Wow, Jennifer! You’re doing everything perfectly! Meal reservations…check! Park tickets…check! I’m happy to help with the rest of your questions! The parades and the fireworks shows are free for your viewing pleasure! Let’s do a quick review of each park!

At Magic Kingdom Park, Guests can see some of their favorite Disney characters as they enjoy the Festival of Fantasy Parade! And, as evening settles over Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Park, you can view the nighttime fireworks spectacular known as Happily Ever After!

Over at EPCOT, the fireworks show is appropriately called…EPCOT Forever! Similar to Happily Ever After, this show occurs each night! And, over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you can enjoy a visit to Mickey’s imagination with the nighttime show Fantasmic! This is probably my favorite of all the fireworks shows! Not only are the fireworks perfect, but this show incorporates many Disney characters and a great story!

Jennifer, you can check the times for these parades and fireworks shows on the Walt Disney World Resort website. Times do change, so I highly recommend checking the times up until your arrival date.

As far as bathing suits go, you won’t need to have those at the Disney theme parks as there aren’t rides or attractions in which you’ll be immersed or swimming in water. However, if you choose to spend a day at one (or both) of the water parks – Disney’s Blizzard Beach or Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon – you will absolutely need your bathing suits! I have three sons. They love the Walt Disney World Resort water parks! They have become a “must-do” on our vacations! Also, you’ll want your bathing suit to enjoy your resort hotel pool!

Jennifer, I've included a few helpful links in this answer that will provide you with more information about everything that I recommended in this answer. I also included a link to a video that my fellow planDisney panelist, Elaine, and I filmed at Magic Kingdom Park earlier this year! This video is great for “first-time visitors” like yourself to view!

    Happy Planning!
