First time to Disney -me, husband, 5 and 2 yr old. Trying to decide if we need to do quick service meal plan or can I save money by - eating breakfast in hotel room, pack lunches and bring refillable water bottles, and only eat supper out. Will that work?

    Hi Seth,

You must be so excited for your first Disney vacation! It really is a wonderful place for families to laugh and play together!

As far as saving money, you can certainly go with your plan. Guests are allowed to bring food into the parks, and a packing lunches is a great way to save money. I would try to do at least one character meal. I know they seem expensive, but your youngest will eat for free, and the kid's prices aren't too bad. It's a great way to meet some of your favorite characters without having to wait in long lines.

The one thing I do like about the quick service plan is that it includes snacks and a refillable drink mug. The mug is key if you happen to be a soda or coffee drinker. (If water is your beverage of choice, then it's not that big of a perk.) Water can get expensive in the parks, but if you have a car and can bring a case with you, then you'll really save quite a bit of money.

Hope this helps. Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
