It's our first time at Disney, family of 5. Two adults, 3 children. Trying to find a place to spend 1 night 2 days where we can also bring our basset hound. So we can check on him periodically and still spend time with him while we're on vacation.

Hi Sherine! I totally understand your need to bring along your family's pet as we finally bit the bullet and bought a large motor coach so we also could bring our two English Bulldogs along on our Disney vacations.

Unfortunately, the only place you can bring a dog with you is the Fort Wilderness campground. You must be in one of the RV sites as the tent sites do not allow pets as well as the cabins. If you want to choose this route you can rent RV's locally where they set it up for you and they come equipped completely or all except linens and towels. It is a wonderful place for a family vacation and the RV sites are much less then a Disney resort per night. It is a different kind of stay but it really isn't bad to "glamp" at Fort Wilderness.

Your other option for your basset member of the family would be to reserve a spot at the Best Friends Pet Care facility located on property. This is an outstanding facility that we use a lot when having to leave for a weekend during our Disney stay. Our dogs love it and we can see how well they are taken care of. They have various types of facilities for the dogs including the VIP section where you can actually watch your dog via your phone while in the parks. They also have a dog day care if you are not staying on property and can take your dog "home" to a hotel that allows pets after your day in the park. You can check this out at the Disney website, https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/best-friends-pet-care/ or call 877-493-9738.

Hopefully, one of these ideas will be a solution for your family trip to Walt Disney World that includes your best four legged friend! Make sure you buy him a Disney Doggie souvenir!
