First Time on DC, last minute booking for Nov but Christmas theme, will we miss out on things? Secondly we are not swimmers so what are our options for the tours? or are we allowed to stay on boat and enjoy ?

    Ahoy, Deepa!

YAY for booking your FIRST Disney Cruise Line vacation!  You are going to have the best adventure at sea with my favorite Captains, Captain Mickey and Captain Minnie and I hope that this is the first of many Disney Cruise Line vacations for you and your family.

It appEARs that you will be headed out on the Disney Dream for three-nights of non-stop fun, adventure, magic and memories!  I understand that you may feel as though you are “late to the party” as far as planning goes, but you definitely aren’t!  In fact, there have been a number of voyages that my family has booked very last-minute, didn’t pre-arrange a single thing and still had the BEST time!  You definitely will want to complete your Online Check-In and register any Mouseketeers for the onboard Youth Clubs prior to your voyage because if your kiddos are anything like mine they will love spending time in the Youth Clubs where they can play, explore, create and make new friends!  Go ahead and look through the other “onboard fun” options that you can register for now and if something looks enticing, go ahead and book it! Otherwise, there will be SO MANY activities going on once onboard that you will easily be able to keep busy!  Make sure you have the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app so you will have access to the complete schedule of activities, entertainment and character greetings – there will be so many that you will likely find yourselves struggling to decide just which activity to choose!!

You can most definitely stay onboard on port days, enjoying the ship and while there will be scheduled activities going on, there won’t be quite as many during port days.  However, I do recommend making a point to get off the ship at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay…even to just see it!  It’s a short walk – or tram ride – to the family beach area, but there is more to explore on the island than just the beach!  One of our favorite things to do is to rent bicycles and head to the Observation Tower for some great views!  We also enjoy the delicious lunch served at Cookie’s BBQ, so I recommend, if nothing else, heading there for lunch!  The huge chocolate chip cookies (put two around soft serve ice cream for a refreshing after lunch dessert) and fresh fruit display are not to be missed!

Wishing you the most magical and memorable adventure at sea, Deepa!  As you continue planning, please come back with any other questions you may have!

    Happy Sailing!
