    We are first time cruisers and it will be aboard the Disney Magic in April 2012. Can prepaid Disney gift cards be used for tipping and final shipboard balances at the end of the trip? At Castaway Cay?

    Hi, Vicki!

    Yes, you can use Disney Gift Cards to pay your shipboard balance on Disney Cruise Line.  However, you can only use your stateroom key at Castaway Cay.  Of course, everything you purchase using your stateroom key (Key to the World Card) is charged to your shipboard account -- you just can't use the actual Disney Gift Card anywhere but at Guest Services on a Disney ship.

    From experience, I'll give you an extra "helpful hint" when redeeming your Disney Gift Card on board.  Sometimes at sea, it may be difficult for Guest Services to access the Disney Gift Card account balance online and process your payment.  Therefore, in order to avoid long lines on Debarkation Day, try to remember to apply your Disney Gift Card on the day you come aboard or on a day you're in a port.
