Hi! It's my first time cruise in Disney Cruise! It's gonna be a 14 day trip to Orlando with my 10 year old son. It's a quite long trip, so I am planning to bring two 28 inch suitcases. Would it be possible to bring those two suitcases on board?

Ahoy there, Ji Ye! Welcome to planDisney and your very first Disney Cruise adventure. I’m already anticipating all the incredible memories you are sure to make with your son on this epic Disney Land and Sea vacation, so I’m thrilled I get to help you with your planning.

I have happy news: you are absolutely welcome to bring those two 28-inch suitcases on board. Disney Cruise Line allows each Guest two checked bags, with no specific size or weight limit, as long as they can fit in your stateroom. I’ve always been able to store my checked bags under the bed, which is another thing I appreciate about the rooms onboard. You’ll find lots of thoughtful touches in the staterooms (like plenty of outlets), and your Stateroom Host will do everything in their power to make your trip as comfortable as possible, too.

You’ll receive two luggage tags per Guest, and if you’re staying at a Disney Resort and booked Ground Transportation through Disney, you’ll also get instructions via email before embarkation day. These will tell you exactly where to leave your checked bags so Disney can collect them for you and deliver them straight to the ship.

Your stateroom is usually ready around 1:30 PM, but your checked bags may not arrive until hours later, so I recommend packing a carry-on that you can keep with you. This is where you should keep everything from necessities (like travel documents and medications) to items that will help you start having fun right away (like swimsuits, sunscreen, & sunglasses).

And it’s never too early to download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. In addition to your cruise countdown, you’ll find the ability to check in online and even book Port Adventures. Once you step on the ship, connect to the free DCL-GUEST WiFi, and you’ll have your complete activity schedule in the palm of your hands.

Ji Ye, there’s a great big beautiful tomorrow ahead, and you will always remember your very first Disney Cruise. Congratulations on getting ready to become a fellow Castaway Club member; I hope this is the first of many more adventures at sea for you and your son. And if you think of any other questions before you set sail, I hope you’ll visit us again here at planDisney.

    Bon voyage,
    Sami
