Hello, Lynsey,
How exciting that you are planning your first trip to
Walt Disney World! I do have some great news to share: all of the Disney-owned resorts have small refrigerators in the rooms. Full kitchens can also be found in the
Deluxe Villas (not the Deluxe Studios, however) as well as the
Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. Walt Disney World also offers
Special Dietary Requests for guests, and you are welcome to bring your own food into the parks, too, as long as they don't require heating.
First Aid Centers are also available at the theme parks and water parks if you'd need to store medication which needs to be refrigerated and to dispose of hypodermic needles.
If you do an internet search, there are many informative articles about visiting Walt Disney World with diabetes. Our own Disney Mom Jacqui has even written one called
Visiting Disney World With Type 1 Diabetes for the independent website Touringplans.com that I'd encourage you to take a peek at. She does recommend obtaining a
Disability Access Service Card, so you can read more about it by clicking on the provided link.
As you continue planning, please let us know how we can help. Wishing you a magical trip! -
Kara
