Welcome back to planDisney Christine, and thank you for stopping by with your question! It sounds like you're counting down the days to your upcoming
Walt Disney World Resort vacation, how exciting! With so many new updates to the planning tools since your last visit, it’s completely understandable to have questions about the Lightning Lane Multi-Pass and Single Pass options. I’d be happy to walk you through the timing and details so you can feel confident and ready to make the most of every magical moment.
Since you're staying at a
Disney Resort hotel, you're eligible to purchase
Lightning Lane Multi-Pass and Single Pass starting seven days before your check-in date. Your check-in day, June 29, counts as day one. That means you can make your purchases beginning at 7:00 AM Eastern Time on June 22. This early access applies only to guests staying at Disney Resort hotels or select partner hotels. If you were staying off-site, you would have to wait until three days before each park visit, and you’d only be able to book one day at a time.
The Lightning Lane Multi-Pass replaces the old Genie+ system. It allows you to pre-select up to three attractions per park day in advance, based on tiered ride groupings in some parks. After you use your initial three selections on the day of your visit, you can make additional selections one at a time, subject to availability. The Lightning Lane Single Pass is separate and allows you to purchase access to high demand attractions that are not part of the Multi-Pass offering. Examples include TRON Lightcycle / Run, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
On June 22, you’ll be able to purchase both types of passes for each day of your trip, up to 14 days. If you're visiting Magic Kingdom on June 29, you could, for example, book three eligible rides using the Multi-Pass and then purchase a Single Pass for TRON or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. If you have multiple park days planned, you can also make those selections on the same morning. Just make sure your park tickets and travel party are all properly linked in your My Disney Experience account before June 22 so you’re ready to go when the booking window opens.
Christine, I hope you find this information helpful as you prepare for an exciting visit to Walt Disney World Resort! Thank you again for visiting planDisney. Have a magical day!
