Hi Machella:
I'm a parent of two boys, ages 5 and 3, and I would love to share some of my family's must-dos for our Disney World vacations. Your family may have different tastes, but hopefully these recommendations will be a good start to planning your trip.
Here are some of my family's must-dos attractions: among many other things: at the Magic Kingdom, we always ride the Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan's Flight, Mickey's PhilharMagic, and it's a small world. At Epcot, we take in Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land, and tour the countries of World Showcase. Our must-dos at Hollywood Studios include Toy Story Mania and Muppet Vision 3-D. At Animal Kingdom, our family always rides the Kilimanjaro Safari and visits The Boneyard and Conservation Station. As you enter the parks, pick up a Times Guide for parades and show schedules throughout the day.
Yo ho, yo ho: if your boys are anything like my sons (or me), they love pirates. Make a reservation for your family - wife included - to be transformed into pirates for the day at
The Pirates League. Simply call (407) WDW-CREW (939-2739) for reservations (theme park admission required). You will go into The Pirates League civilians and leave as pirates with new pirate names, a pirate look, a pirate oath, and some sweet new swashbuckling maneuvers.
If your family likes to fish, consider some bass fishing. Call (407)939-BASS or (407)WDW-PLAY for more information.
For a dinner event, head to the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. Hoop-Dee-Doo is a vaudeville-style dinner show with a country twist. Dinner is served family style and includes favorites like fried chicken, smoked bbq pork ribs, fresh corn bread, strawberry shortcake and the most delicious country-style baked beans I have ever tasted.
If you want more activities, check out the water parks, miniature golf, and watercraft rentals.
