First multiday trip! We're 2 adults staying POR 7d/6n on 9/23-29 w/ deluxe dining, wondering how much cash we should plan on bringing for travelling, airports, tips, mousekeeping, etc. No ATM card or Debit, but will have CC for incidentals on KTW card

    Hi Scotty,

Sounds like you have a great vacation planned.  With the Deluxe Dining Plan, you won't need much money at all.

As far as tipping goes, it's such a personal thing.  Myself, I generally tip $1 per person, figuring that the bus driver usually has to store my carry on luggage under the bus.  Mousekeeping, I usually tip $5 per day if it's just my husband and I staying.  I sometimes tip more with my whole family, depending on how messy the kids are.  At the airport, you'll probably want to buy a snack for the plane.  Then tipping at restaurants, you'll want to pay between 15-20% of what the bill would have been if you were paying cash.  Don't worry, your receipt will clearly show the cost.  I think $40 per day is a good amount to plan on having.  If you plan on having a cocktail or wine with your dinner, I would add at least an extra $20 to that estimate.

On the other hand, if you plan on using your Key to the World card to cover restaurant gratuities and beverages, you won't need nearly that much.  $15 per day should more than cover those expenses.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
