If my first lightning lane is at 1225, will I be able to book an additional lightning lane 2 hours after park open or must I wait until I scan into the first ride? Thank you!

Hey Howdy Hey Matthew and welcome to planDisney!

Thank you for stopping by with your question about booking your Lightning Lanes. As this process has recently gone through a big change, the details of their usage have also changed. Let's go over a few things regarding the details of booking so you are ready to go for your Magical vacation.

With the new revamp of Lightning Lanes comes new product names. Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass are the new options you have when booking Lightning Lanes. Lightning Lane Multi Pass is available for Guests to purchase 7 days in advance of their date of arrival when staying onsite at a Disney Resort hotel or 3 days in advance if staying offsite.

Once Lightning Lane Multi Pass is purchased, you can select which days you want to purchase this for as well as which Guests. You will then be able to book your 3 Lightning Lane selections before you get to the parks! Once you tap into your first attraction, you may be able to make another selection pending availability. You will then have that rolling one to use throughout the rest of your day in the parks as long as there is availability. These passes are no longer dependent on time as they were in the past like with the 2-hour mark you mentioned.

Lightning Lane Single Pass is your other option for purchase. These passes are available for the top attractions in each park. Your availability window is the same as your Multi Pass options and this will give you a specific time to experience an attraction such as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT. You are only allowed to purchase 2 per day, so these do come with more limits but may be a great way to experience attractions that are on your "must-do" list without waiting in a long line.

I hope this information makes sense as the new process is familiar yet very different from the old way to book Lightning Lanes. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly if need be.
