Hi, this is our first family trip to WDW with our 2 yoDS and 5 yo DD.What are the rules as far as backpacks go and how convenient are they for storing on the rides?I want to pack snacks, etc but am concerned about the hassle it's going to cause! thanks!

    Sonia:

Our family brings a backpack everyday to the park!  (And thankfully, my husband is gracious enough to carry it!)

We fill it with snacks and bottled water in the morning, and by the afternoon, it's emptied enough to fill with souvenirs!  Disney's official guidelines state that a backpack can't be larger than 24" (61 cm) long x 15" (38 cm) wide x 18" (46 cm) high, but we're not planning on camping on Main Street overnight!  Just your average backpack will do!

As for storage during the rides, many attractions have compartments for storage.  (Kali River Rapids even has a large waterproof bin in the middle of the raft to keep your backpack DRY!)

Wishing y'all a magical first Disney vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
